With a first name like Yasmine Rose, it was almost foreseeable that I would grow-up surrounded by the wonderful world of flowers and beauty!
Very early in my life, I was fascinated with aesthetics: works of art, jewelry, flowers, unique creations. As a child, I would spend hours watching my mother, who was a jeweler at the time, work on her creations. This fascination prompted me to open a boutique-workshop in Outremont, of which I was the proud owner for more than 6 years. Later, I was introduced to the amazing world of tea and herbal medicine. This new passion is such that I am on my way to becoming a tea sommelier after two years of study. Today, you are invited to navigate through my world. I hope my passions and discoveries will inspire you. Yasmine Rose In ancient China, during the early Song Dynasty, 960-1279 B.C., an amazing tradition started: the pressing of black tea into numerous shapes and forms. Instead of working with textiles or clay, artisans and sculptors would work with tea to create delicate works of art. These lovely tea creations were not meant to be permanent but rather to represent the unpredictability of love, life, and happiness.
The Antony and Cleopatra tea, made of lovely pressed Yunnan tea hearts, is a tribute to one of the most legendary love affairs of all times, that of Marc Antony and Cleopatra. Antony was married when he madly fell in love and moved in with Cleopatra. Their intense love story was punctuated by war, bloodshed, and trial. Cleopatra and Antony famously took their own lives in 30 B.C. Oh! The agony of the heart! The hearts are breakable and delicate, like love itself, and can easily unravel once the tribulations of life come to bear on it. In like manner, once boiling water is poured over the tea hearts, they will undo producing a rich, dark, full-bodied cup of tea – with deep notes of earth and wine and a medium-long finish. To be enjoyed with that special someone… |
